Very Reverend Father George Ajalat was born and grew up in Calexico, California. He graduated from UCLA in 1975 and attended Medical School at the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed a General Surgery Residency at UCLA and a Vascular Surgery Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He practiced Vascular Surgery in Covina, California for 30 years. He retired from medicine in 2015 to become the fulltime pastor of St. Simeon Orthodox Church.
Fr. George was ordained a sub-deacon in 1996 and Deacon in 1997 at St. Nicholas Cathedral. He is the founder of the St. Nicholas Hispanic Mission and the St. Nicholas Kids' Club, which ministers to the poor and needy children of the inner-city Rampart neighborhood. Fr. George was ordained to the Holy Priesthood in 2007. He is currently the spiritual adviser to the Clergy Wives of the Diocese of Los Angeles.
In 2015 Fr. George was assigned to be the pastor of the new St. Simeon Orthodox Church in Santa Clarita, California, where he ministers to a rapidly growing congregation. Fr. George has been married to his beautiful wife, Janine, for 36 years and has 3 children- Nicole (Jeffrey), David (Janine), and Mark (Kouri). He has five grandchildren and one on the way, who are the pride of his life.
Fr. George will be giving a workshop on Thursday July 2, 2020 (2:45-4:15 PM) on Cannabis, Vaping, and the Hookah: a Danger to our Minds, Bodies, and Souls.
